The main difference between soy wax and paraffin wax candles is the source and environmental impact. Soy wax is made from renewable, natural soybeans, making it eco-friendly, biodegradable, and a cleaner-burning option. It also produces less soot compared to paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum and can release harmful toxins when burned. Soy wax candles tend to have a longer burn time and retain fragrance better. On the other hand, paraffin candles are often cheaper but can negatively impact air quality and the environment.
To get the most out of your soy wax candle, always trim the wick to about ¼ inch before lighting it each time. This helps prevent the flame from getting too large and ensures an even burn.
Let the candle burn for at least 2-3 hours during the first use to allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface - This is because soy wax has a memory, meaning the candle will only melt to the point where it was last extinguished.
Never leave a candle burning unattended, and always place it on a heat-resistant surface. When you’re finished, allow the candle to cool completely before handling or re-lighting.
